Redundancy

Redundancy can be a very unsettling time but your Scheme benefits are protected whatever happens.

Redundancy is a strict legal term and different provisions may apply to your Norfolk Pension Fund benefits if your employment ends for any other reason. Click here to read our guide Your LGPS Benefits and Redundancy.

PLEASE NOTE that following the introduction of The Restriction of Public Sector Exit Payments Regulations 2020, the information contained in the Your LGPS Benefits and Redundancy guide is due to change.

The changes will affect you if you are over age 55 and you leave your employment on redundancy or efficiency grounds.

The Government is currently considering feedback from its consultation on changes to LGPS regulations and details can be viewed at GOV.UK.

We do not know exactly when these changes will take effect, but we expect it to be early 2021. We will update the Your LGPS Benefits and Redundancy guide with information about the changes once they are known.

If you are retiring on the grounds of redundancy or efficiency, please discuss the possible implications for your pension with your employer.

The LGPS has published a 'Public sector exit cap - FAQs for LGPS members' section on its website which can be viewed at www.lgpsmember.org.
